MPPT Press – INEA (08/21/2024).- A total of 125 radio beacons, including PLB and EPIRB types, were granted by the National Institute of Aquatic Spaces (INEA) to the Councils of Artisanal Fishermen and Fish Workers (CONPPA) of the states of Miranda and La Guaira. This took place during an event held this Tuesday at the coastal strip of the central littoral, in conjunction with the Ministry of People’s Power for Fisheries and Aquaculture (MINPESCA).

Likewise, the entity attached to the Great Venezuela Transport Mission delivered 120 life jackets, in order to continue promoting the maximum safety of human life at sea, all within the framework of the “Safe Fishing Plan” ordered by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro Moros.

The activity brought together more than 400 fishermen from both states and was presided over by the Governor of La Guaira, José Alejandro Terán; the Minister of People’s Power for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Juan Carlos Loyo; the Vice Minister of Aquatic Transportation, Adm. Edglis Herrera Balza; the Vice Minister of Processing and Distribution of MINPESCA, Prisangel Pérez; the President of INEA, Rear Adm. Germán Gómez Larez; the President of INSOPESCA, Vice Adm. Jorge Taján; the Commander of ZODI La Guaira, Maj. Gen. Jesús Villamizar Gómez; the Commander of the Main Coast Guard Station of La Guaira, Rear Adm. Eduard Méndez Araujo; and the Director of INSOPESCA La Guaira, Prisco Dávila.

Also in attendance were the Harbor Masters of Carenero, Capt. Carlos Martu, and La Guaira, Master Mariner Gioyyanni Calderón, who will oversee the correct use of these safety devices by the CONPPAs within each of their respective aquatic jurisdictions.

Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons (EPIRB) and Personal Locator Beacons (PLB) indicate the emergency position when activated, which will allow the State to know the vessel’s location for the respective search and rescue maneuvers.

For its part, MINPESCA delivered 130 returnable financings for fishing gear and engine repair parts (nets, rope, piston kits, connecting rods, bearings, resins, paints, fibers), as well as supplies for related activities such as freezers for collective use.

This is how the Revolutionary Government, through the Ministries of Popular Power for Transport, and Fisheries and Aquaculture, work hand in hand to guarantee the well-being of the workers of the sea, thus reaffirming its commitment to the fishing and aquaculture sector in this new stage of the Bolivarian Revolution.
