INEA PRESS (02.26.2026) – The National Institute of Aquatic Spaces (INEA) reaffirms the commitment of the Venezuelan State to scientific development and the protection of its Caribbean maritime front, with the execution of the IV Scientific Research Conference at the Isla de Aves Wildlife Refuge.

This mission, which took place from March 16 to 22, 2026, included the participation of representatives from the country’s scientific community: IVIC, IDEA, SHN, UCV, USB, UMC, ABAE, FIIIDT, CPDI, MINEC, PDVSA-INTEVEP, and various environmental foundations.

The development of activities in this strategic enclave, the northernmost point of Venezuela, also relied on the strategic support of the Bolivarian Navy, which was responsible for transporting personnel aboard the Coastal Surveillance Vessel AB Comandante Eterno Hugo Chávez (GC-24) and providing logistical support at the Simón Bolívar Naval Scientific Base.

The central objective is the generation of vital knowledge for the sustainability of the ecosystem, which serves as a species protection area and a natural laboratory for the global study of the ocean.

During this fourth edition, 27 projects of high scientific impact are being executed, addressing critical challenges for humanity and the Nation, among which the following stand out:

• Climate Change Monitoring
• Biodiversity and Conservation
• Technology and Oceanography
• Environmental Health
• Pharmacological Potential

The conference is not limited only to the technical field; it includes training programs such as “The Ecological Caravan” and the “From the House to the Beach” campaign, initiatives designed for the environmental awareness of citizens and the training of future generations of Venezuelan scientists.

With the execution of these conferences, the Bolivarian Government, through the Ministry of People’s Power for Transportation (MPPT) and INEA, guarantees the country’s active presence at its maritime borders, transforming the exercise of sovereignty into tangible contributions to universal science and the preservation of life on the planet.
