La RThe Operative Network of Regional Cooperation of Maritime Authorities of the Americas (ROCRAM)

(ROCRAM) is a regional body through which Maritime Authorities act in an integrated manner across various levels of cooperation, by means of fluid, frank, and permanent contact.

The governing body of ROCRAM is the Assembly of all Maritime Authorities, which meets biennially to analyze and endorse the progress achieved during the period, approve the Network’s biennial Work Program and general policy matters, as well as designate the Maritime Authority that will serve as the General Secretariat of the Operative Network, SECROCRAM. This position rotates every two years and is tasked with coordinating the activities of the Maritime Authorities in accordance with the objectives and resolutions adopted at the meetings. Maritime Authorities comprising the Network: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela.

All members in their respective countries exercise the function of Maritime Authorities, which generically includes acting to maintain the safety of life at sea, maritime safety, the protection of the marine environment, and the maritime security of the ship and port facilities.
