The functions of the Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) include “to consider all matters within the competence of the organization relating to aids to navigation, ship construction and equipment, manning from a safety point of view, rules for the prevention of collisions, handling of dangerous cargoes, procedures and requirements relating to maritime safety, hydrographic information, navigation logs and records, marine casualty investigation, salvage of property and persons, and any other matter directly affecting maritime safety.

LIST OF MARINE ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION COMMITTEE RESOLUTIONS

The Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) is empowered to consider any matter within the competence of the organization relating to the prevention and control of pollution of the sea by ships. In particular, it deals with the adoption and amendment of conventions and other rules and measures to ensure compliance.

NON-EXHAUSTIVE LIST OF OMITTED OBLIGATIONS

Adopted on December 6, 2017, at the 30th session of the IMO Assembly under Resolution A.1121(30). The 2017 Non-Exhaustive List of Obligations Under Instruments Relevant to the Code for the Implementation of IMO Instruments (Code III), serves as guidance for the implementation of and compliance with IMO instruments, in particular with regard to the identification of auditable areas in relation to the IMO Member State Audit Scheme.

LIST OF CERTIFICATES AND DOCUMENTS TO BE CARRIED ON BOARD

The Facilitation Committee, at its 38th session (April 8-12, 2013), the Marine Environment Protection Committee, at its 65th session (May 13-17, 2013) and the Maritime Safety Committee, at its 92nd session (June 12-21, 2013), adopted the list of certificates and documents to be carried on board ships, 2013.

This work was carried out in accordance with the provisions of section 2 of the Annex to the Facilitation Convention concerning formalities relating to the arrival, stay and departure of ships required of shipowners by public authorities. It is emphasized that these provisions should not be taken to mean that the competent authorities are precluded from requiring, for inspection purposes, certain certificates and other documents of the ship relating to registration, dimensions, safety, manning, classification and other related matters.
