CIRCULAR No 24
Considering that Circular No. 011 mentions Administrative Ruling No. 056, dated August 22, 2017, regarding “Standards relative to the basic mandatory safety equipment for national flag vessels not regulated by the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) 1974 and its 1978 Protocol, as amended,” where instructions were issued for the installation of various basic mandatory safety equipment.
In accordance with the foregoing, and regarding the “Automatic Identification System” (AIS) equipment, the following scope is issued for Circular 011, establishing as follows:
- The deadline is extended until March 31, 2019, for the implementation of the requirements established in Administrative Ruling 056 of August 22, 2017, Article 2, in accordance with Circular 011.
- Vessels that are mandatory required to install AIS equipment must install “Type B” equipment, or one with superior specifications.
- The AIS equipment will be required for the vessels specified in Administrative Ruling 056 with a length overall (LOA) equal to or greater than ten meters (10 m).
The Aquatic Authority, through the General Management of the Merchant Marine and the Maritime Safety Management, shall ensure strict compliance with this Circular.
