INEA CELEBRATES 23RD ANNIVERSARY DEVELOPING MARITIME AND AQUATIC SPACES.

    15-01-2025

This Wednesday, January 15, the National Institute of Maritime Spaces (INEA) reached its 23rd anniversary of institutional management at the service of the Venezuelan people. The Institute continues to promote the strategic development of our jurisdictional waters—maritime, fluvial, and lacustrine—while engaging with the country’s various productive sectors to integrate the maritime industry into the national development equation

Among the achievements reached, key highlights include the strengthening of operational capacity, the consolidation of national and international strategic alliances, the fostering of maritime awareness, and the promotion of science, technology, and applied innovation to guarantee the continuous improvement of all processes

In this regard, INEA has designed, built, and launched monocull and catamaran-type vessels for the Waterborne Passenger Transport (TAP) system, activated social and tourist routes, and upgraded docks and port infrastructures. Furthermore, the Institute has optimized the technical and operational capabilities of the Port State Control, the Maritime Signaling System, and the Maritime Search and Rescue (SAR) system. It has also ensured compliance with MARPOL, monitored the effects of climate change on water bodies, promoted the development of the Venezuelan national merchant marine, and expanded nautical education through CENAVE

Likewise, progress has been made in the development and implementation of Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) and Automatic Identification Systems (AIS) for ships, the redesign of INEA’s organizational structure, and the promotion of scientific research in aquatic spaces. Efforts also include the optimization of Port Captaincies’ physical infrastructure, the activation of the National Council of Aquatic Spaces, the evaluation of new regional headquarters under the ‘Venezuelan Sea’ strategic concept, and contributions to the maintenance of the State’s major navigation channels

Guided by the legacy of our Eternal and Supreme Commander Hugo Chávez, and in compliance with the instructions of our Minister of Transportation, MG Ramón Velásquez Araguayán, these actions executed by the Maritime Authority seek to develop the State’s maritime, lacustrine, and fluvial potential. Based on the notion of productive chaining, these efforts aim to consolidate the integral development—both sustainable and self-sustaining—of the ‘Blue Venezuela

    SCHEDULED ACTIVITIES

INEA will celebrate its anniversary with liturgical activities (Thanksgiving Mass), protocol events (a wreath-laying ceremony for the Father of the Country, a long-service award ceremony for employees, and the presentation of special decorations), and sports competitions
